ABOUT YOUR TRAINER

Dr. Ramirez graduated in 1983, obtaining his DDS degree from the Javeriana University in Colombia. Afterwards, he completed a Pediatric Dentistry Diploma in Mexico. Dr. Ramirez interest includes guiding craniofacial growth and development in children. Thus, he trained in Orthodontics in Brazil, as well as completed a Master of Dental Sciences and Doctoral degree (PhD) in Oral Biology in Australia. He also holds a Mater degree focusing in Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Apnea from Tufts University in Boston, USA. Planas’ direct tracks.

Beside his extensive experience treating children, Dr. Ramirez has been an academic in USA and Canada. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Dentist of Canada in 2012 and recently moved to Ontario, where he practices, while continue associated with the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

What You'll Learn and Practice

Recognize the early signs of Obstructive Sleep Disordered Breathing (OSDB) and differentiate it from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) using clinical and radiographic tools.

Learn how to use minimally invasive selective grinding combined with Planas’ Direct Tracks to manage posterior and anterior crossbites early in development.

Master the interpretation of lateral cephalograms to diagnose skeletal patterns related to airway compromise, including recognizing bimaxillary retrusion and vertical growth patterns.

for patients by combining functional orthodontic techniques with airway-focused strategies.

Module 1

Early Treatment of Malocclusions

Dates: September 1–2, 2025

  • Understand the principles of craniofacial growth and airway development.

  • Diagnose and intercept malocclusions in primary and mixed dentition. 

  • Hands-on training: Build and apply Planas’ Direct Tracks for real clinical cases.

  • Learn selective grinding techniques to manage crossbites and deep bites early.

  • Clinical discussions on participant-submitted cases for direct feedback. 

Module 2

Integration of ALF, Myobrace, and Munchee Systems

Dates: September 3–4, 2025

  • Understand the connection between airway health, craniofacial structures, and tongue posture.

  • Explore the role of Orofacial Myology in enhancing orthodontic and airway outcomes.

  • Hands-on training: Application of ALF appliances, Myobrace, and Munchee systems.

  • Diagnose and manage sleep-disordered breathing (OSDB) in children.

  • Practical cephalometric analysis for airway-focused treatment planning.
